southern side of River Ganga. Earlier, Patna city was known by the name of
Pataliputra. It was capital city of the great Magadha Empire. Patna is the

Patna witnesses hot summers and a humid
climate. Mostly, the weather is hot and humid except for the winters which are
pleasant and nice.
Summers: From March to June, the place is
very hot and experiences a humid weather. The temperature goes up to as high as
46°C making it difficult for the people living in Patna.
Monsoon: From July till September, Patna
has a lot of rainfall resulting in high humidity increasing to the pain of the
local people. Humidity during this season is at its peak and at times becomes
unbearable for the local people.
Winter: Winters are the best and most
pleasant in Patna. From November till February, the temperature is cool and at
times goes down till 6°C.

during October-March when the temperature is cool and the humidity has
decreased to a considerable level.

roads. Highway Number 31 connects Patna and Dinapur. The national highway is a
link between the south and north Bihar.

many options are available for them as the Eastern Railway runs parallel to
River Ganga. In total, 3 railway lines run across this district connecting the
entire area. The ferry service has been ceased post the opening of Patna
Hajipur bridge.

Air: Patna is connected to cities like Delhi and
Kolkata and some other places as well. The aerodrome is at Bihar and near
Phulwari sharif as well.
