Fauna of Bandhavgarh National Park

Bandhavgarh National Park brings a beautiful dense forest trail where you will be able to discover many beautiful species of wild creatures roaming around the lush green surroundings. For facts, the forest has more than 250 species of birds and more than 22 species of mammals in the area with common rhesus macaque and langurs representing the core group.


Previously, the park reserve was being named as Shikargarh. Asides from that, it was also maintained as a game park where hunting was being carried out in full gusto along with their protection. While you wander about the park on an elephant’s back, you may be able to spot a tiger.

The list of Faunas observed at Bandhavgarh National Park is:

Bengal Tigers, White Tigers, Sambar, Leopards, Nilgai, Wild Boar, Barking Deer, Chausingha, Gaur, Chinkara, Bengal fox, the Asiatic jackal, ratel, sloth bear, striped hyena, grey mongoose, leopard and tiger. Frequently sighted artiodactyls are spotted deer, wild pig, chausingha, samber, nilgai and chinkara with mammals like dhole, palm squirrel, the small Indian civet and the lesser bandicoot rat and little egret, grebe, sarus crane, lesser adjutant, crested serpent eagle, black kite, Egyptian vulture, black vulture, red jungle fowl, common peafowl, parakeet and the dove. You will also be able to spot the Indian roller. Reptilian fauna include krait, cobra, ratsnake, viper, turtle, python, as well as a number of lizard varieties, including varanus.

The park also consists of many different species of birds such as the Common Teals, Grey Hornbill, Red Jungle Fowl and White Breasted Kingfisher etc.
