Know About Vellore Golden Temple in Sripuram - Biggest of Its Own in the World

The golden temple of Sripuram known as the Lakshmi Narayani Temple has thoroughly changed the appearance of Thirumalaikodi village and Vellore, the town in which it is situated. Famous as one of the Golden Temples in India this temple is located at the southern end of the city of Vellore, at Tirumalaikodi. This temple is unique in its formation in comparison with the other Golden Temples in India. The Sripuram golden temple is situated in the centre of a path that is star shaped with twelve auspicious vertices, which indicates that it absorbs maximum divine power from mother Earth and nature. This star-shaped path is located in the centre of a rich green landscape and messages of truth and righteousness delivered by Sri Sakthi Amma and other spiritual leaders are laid on both sides of the pathway. Devotees walking through the star-shaped path to the temple experience immense peace of mind and relaxation of the body. The Lakshmi Narayani temple or Mahalakshmi temple is one of the special Golden Temples in India. The temple’s 'Vimanam’ and ‘Ardha Mandapam’ are entirely coated with gold both internally and externally.

The Sripuram-Sri Lakshmi Narayani Golden Temple in India is the biggest Golden temple in the world. The temple is covered with nine to fifteen layers of gold foils, which were manually prepared. More than 1.5 tonnes of gold were used to cover the entire temple. The whole temple was conceived through a divine vision and designed by Sri Sakthi Amma also known as Narayani Amma. Man-made sculptures, elaborately decorated pillars and roof of the temple are a visual treat to the eyes of the beholder; each and every single art in the temple has Vedic significance. Fine and complicated golden carvings and sculptures cover the temple. The golden temple shines and sparkles at night with special lightning arrangements. The roof of the star-shaped path is entirely lit by LED lighting at night such that it looks like a seven-corner star shining on the Earth. The Sripuram Golden Temple is constructed in a 100-acre land area and its surrounding landscape is completely nature’s beauty. The construction of the Golden temple in Sripuram took just seven years to complete and was inaugurated on August 24, 2007. The sanctification ceremony was attended by thousands of devotees. From then on this temple has attracted several thousands of devotees and on special occasions more than 1 lakh people visit the Golden temple.
