Festivals Celebrated at Malshej Ghat

There are various festivals that are organized in Malshej Ghat and these festivals are celebrated with full opulence. The festivals in the Malshej Ghat are celebrated with immense pleasure and great zeal and zest.


Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in months of August and September and it is one of the major festivals celebrated in Malshej Ghat. The festival is celebrated with great zeal and zest. The festival is celebrated in nobility of Lord Ganesha where devotees pray the Lord to remove the obstacles from their lives and hence bring them prosperity and wisdom.

Diwali

Diwali is one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindu community and is also referred as “Festival of Lights” or “Deepavali”. The festival generally occurs in the month of October or November. Diwali is a festival that is celebrated in Malshej Ghat with immense passion. The festival is celebrated by worshipping the Goddess of Wealth, “Goddess Lakshmi”. Diwali is celebrated 20 days after Dusshera.

Maker Sankranti

Makar Sankranti is celebrated as one of the major festival celebrated in the city with great pomp and show. The reason for the celebration of this festival is to celebrate the ascension of sun in the northern direction. The festival is also referred as the harvest festival. This festival also marks the beginning of spring season in the country.

Dusshera

Dusshera is also referred as Vijaya Dashami and is also another one of the major festival celebrated in the Malshej Ghat. The festival generally falls either in month of October or in month of November. The reason for the celebration of Dusshera is to mark victory of Lord Rama on demon Ravana also referred as an occasion to show triumph of good deeds over bad deeds. The festival is also celebrated to mark conquest of Goddess Durga on Demon Mahishasur.
